Our Mother passed away at Hunt Memorial Hospital in Greenville, on Friday, May 12, 2017. Mother was born on Nov. 17, 1938 in Peniel, to Roy Mason Carter and Susan Viola Morris Carter. She had two older sisters, Iva Lee Carter Roberts and Anita Carter Wallace, as well one younger brother, Roy “Bud” Mason Carter Jr.
Mother married Jett Urbin Wilemon on Aug. 11, 1956. Their marriage lasted 19 years, until Jett’s passing in 1975. On May 12, 1978, she married Jesse Leroy Moses. Their marriage lasted 38 years, until Jesse’s passing on Sept. 11, 2016.
Mother was a woman of faith and attended church all of her life. She most recently attended First Baptist Church in Graham, and prior to that attended Aldersgate Church in Greenville, (now Christ Community Church) and Wesley United Methodist Church in Greenville.
Mother battled and overcame Hodgkin-Lymphoma several decades ago. It was her prayer that she would survive long enough to see her children grown and was blessed by God to see not only her grandchildren born, but her great-grandchildren come into this world.
Our hearts ache at her passing, but we rejoice that she has been reunited with her God and the loved ones that preceded her into eternity. She has indeed entered into her reward, promised by the One who is faithful and true.
Mother is survived by one sister, Iva Lee Roberts, of Greenville. She is also survived by her children, Robin and Mike Gann of Greenville, Keith and Charylcie Wilemon of Denton, Don and Margarita Moses of Quinlan, Gary Moses of Quinlan and Darrell and Erin Moses of Lone Oak. Mother’s blended family includes 16 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at Memoryland Memorial Park in Greenville, at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 18. The family’s longtime friend, Rev. Jerry Speight of the Hope Center of Greenville, will be officiating.
