
Dr. Lena Faye Buchanan, 71, of Wynnewood, Oklahoma, passed away Sunday, Sept. 17, 2017 in Paul's Valley, OK. Funeral is scheduled Thursday, Sept. 21, 2017 at 11 a.m. in First United Methodist Church in Graham. Burial will follow in Pioneer Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.
Faye was born Sept. 25, 1945 in Fort Worth, to M.D. and Marie Buchanan. She graduated from Arlington High School and received her Master's Degree in Speech Pathology at The University of Denver. She touched the lives of hundreds of children for many years. She went back to school, receiving her PHD from Oklahoma State University in Pediatric Medicine. Specializing in Neonatology, her healing hands touched hundreds more of the tiniest lives that needed her. When she retired from medicine, she moved to Wynnewood, Oklahoma, where she enjoyed her beloved dogs, chickens and goats. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Wynnewood and served with great delight as their organist for Sunday Services. If you ever went to visit on a Sunday, singing in choir at church with her was a must.
Faye is survived by her brother; Curtis Buchanan and wife Geneva; nieces, Kris Camp and husband Rand and Cynthia Payne and her husband Leo and nephew Doug Buchanan and wife Monica, all of Graham, her best friend Luanne Dillard of Wynnewood, Oklahoma, her 4-legged beloved Jack and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews and great-great nieces and great-great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and great-niece Tessa Price.
Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at Morrison Funeral Home.
