Charles Alvin Ross was born March 17, 1943 in Jack County, to Herschel Alvin and Bessie (Smith) Ross.
After a month-long fight with heart problems, Charles passed away from this life, with his daughter by his side, April 8, 2018 in Wichita Falls, at the age of 75.
He was a member of the Jack County Cowboy Church. He was also baptized at the Mountain Home Baptist Church at Senate in a tank on the Bilby place right down the road.
Visitation was Tuesday, April 11, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Coker Funeral Home. Funeral services are 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, at Jack County Cowboy Church. Burial followed at Ross Family Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Faye Ross; sisters, Gayle (Ross) Burleson and Carrol (Ross) Owen; two grandchildren; great-grandchild, Kourtland Curd; and step-grandchild, Emille Hardin.
He is survived today by his child, Lisa Curd and husband James Jr., of Jacksboro; step-children, Danny Beck and wife Tammy of Wichita Falls and Cody Beck and wife Amy of Fort Worth; sister, Loretta Ross; brother-in-law and best friend, Curtis Owen; grandchildren, Laramee Curd, Cayennee “Ky” Rhoades and James “Trey” Curd III and wife Courtnie; step-grandchildren, Daniel Beck and wife April, Kamryn Beck and Allie Beck; great-grandchildren, Ryon, Blakelee, Trinity, Brentlee, Channing, Burkelee, James“Treyson” IV and Kanyon; step great- grandchildren, Trinity, Cason, Colton, Athon, Kenli, Braxton and Brooklyn; nieces and nephews; Glenn Wayne Burleson, Mike Burleson, Theresa Burleson, Stephina Browning and husband Kenny, Sheila Ogle and husband Bubba and Leann Mercer and husband Bobby.
Pallbearers were James Curd Jr., James “Trey” Curd III, Mike Burleson, Kenny Browning, Bobbie Mercer, Jordan Newsome and Bob Tackett.
Honorary pallbearers were Curtis Owen, Dickey Ross, James Carter Ross, Glenn Wayne Burleson, Lee “Bubba” Ogle Jr. and Brandon Mercer.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Jack County Cowboy Church, 369 E. Jasper St., Jacksboro, TX 76458.
