Wilson Owen Groves went peacefully to be with the Lord on Friday, Dec. 7, 2018 at his home in Graham, surrounded by his loving family.
Owen was born in Graham on March 21, 1937 to the late Woodrow Groves and Wanda Owens Groves Hovland. Owen’s life of faith started early as an active member of the Church of Christ in Fort Worth where he sang in the boy’s choir. Most currently, Owen was a member of the Country Road Fellowship Church of Graham. In addition to his faith in God, Owen served as an Air Force pilot in the Korean War. He was a very patriotic man that loved his country.
As a profession, the Lord gifted Owen with healing hands, as well as the desire to serve and help people. Upon returning to Graham in 1978, he opened his office for reflexology, professional and sports massage. He always loved serving the people of Graham and surrounding areas. As an avid caregiver, he wanted to continue serving after death by donating his body to science.
As the family states, they have lost a great man, husband, father, “Paw-Paw,” great grandpa, and friend. Because of Owens’s faith in the Lord, the family finds strength in knowing they will meet him again in Heaven one day.
Owen was preceded in death by his father Woodrow Groves, mother Wanda Hovland (Owens), step father Eddie Hovland, and brother Joe Groves Sr.
Owen is survived by his wife of 37 years, Sandy Groves of Graham; daughter Trena Allen and husband Bobby of Graham; his son Heath Groves and wife Jennifer of Brock.; his four grandchildren, Eric Allen and wife Micah, Erin Allen-Freeman and husband Spenser, Tyler Groves, and Clayton Groves; his three great-grandchildren Jaxon, Harper, and Piper (due in February); two nephews Joe Groves, Jr. and Matt Groves. Additionally, Owen is survived by many extended family members and friends.
There will be a celebration of life in honor of Owen at the Country Road Fellowship Church (8088 Hwy 16 South) of Graham on Saturday, Dec. 15 at 11 a.m. All are welcome to attend.
