Donald Scott Sims

Donald Scott Sims, 71, passed away in Arlington Thursday, Sept. 19, 2019. A graveside service will be Thursday, Sept. 26, at 11 a.m. in Murray Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.

Scott was born on May 23, 1948 to the late Donald Edward Sims and Nancy Lee Carmack Sims in Stamford. He graduated from Stamford and attended one year at NTSU. He was a project manager in the construction industry for GSA. He loved his family dearly. He was a lover of classic cars and attended car shows to show off his beauties. He had a love for hunting and fishing. He did enjoy spending time at his property in Young County to feel close to his family history and learn more and more about it. He will be truly missed as he was truly loved by all.

Scott is survived by a daughter, Skye Hawkins and her significant other Rodney Michael Bachynski, of Wylie; two stepsons, Michael Shawn Simmons, of Pennsylvania, and Robert James Simmons, of Texas; his girlfriend of 38 years, Carol Green, of DeSoto; three grandchildren, Sarah Jane Massie, of Carrollton, Alyssa Lechelle Stordel, of Richardson, and Andrew Christian Mason, of Wylie; and a brother, Kerry Sims and wife Sharon, of Lebanon, Miss.; nephews, Chris Sims and Bradley Sims; niece, Kimberly Redman.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Kay Sims Cowell.

Visitation will be Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.

Glynn McGee

A celebration of the life of Mr. Glynn McGee, 84, of Henderson, will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28, at First United Methodist Church with Rev. David Luckert officiating. Interment will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, one hour prior to the Celebration of Life service, at Lakewood Memorial Park under the direction of Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends at a reception following the service on Saturday, in the Great Hall at First United Methodist Church.

Mr. McGee passed from this life on Sept. 22, at his residence. He was born July 17, 1935, in Farmer to the late Orus Lane and Lena (Petty) McGee. He graduated from Graham High School in 1953 and went on to attend Texas Tech University where he graduated with a Bachelors of Dairy Science in 1957. While at Texas Tech, Glynn was Vice-President of the student body and was named Mr. Texas Tech in 1957. After his education, he served his country in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea.

Early in his career, Glynn worked for Foremost Dairies. He had a long career as a Dairy Production Consultant for H.E. Randolph Consultants and went on to be the Quality Assurance Director for Southwest Foods in Tyler. Glynn loved making dairy products, especially ice cream.

In August of 1982, the McGees made Henderson their home and joined First United Methodist Church. Having sung in church choirs all of his life, Glynn joined the sanctuary choir and was a member for over 35 years. He was a people person and knew at least one person everywhere he went. Glynn would say his priorities were God, family, friends, academics, and sports (especially baseball), in that order. He enjoyed being outside, and he always did his duty and did it well, no matter how hard or menial.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Kenneth McGee, El Wanda Nall and husband Rex, Mary Evelyn McCanlies and husband Ed, and Darrell McGee.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Mary McGee of Henderson; daughters, Monnie McGee Harper and husband Stephen of Dallas, and Melinda McGee Brown and husband Ian of The Colony; brother, Gary McGee of Olney; grandchildren, Erin Harper, Nathan Brown, Adam Harper, and Daniel Brown; and a host of nieces, nephews, special cousins, and many friends.

Honorary pallbearers will be Undre Alexander, Ian Brown, Stephen Harper, Mark McCanlies, Russell McGee, Doug Nall, and Steve Nall.

Ann Chiles Graham

Ann Chiles Graham, 79, died Sept. 24, 2019, at her home in Graham.

Ann was born on July 7, 1940, in Dallas, but she soon moved to her forever beloved Austin, where she and her sister grew up under the watchful eyes of the late John H. Chiles, Jr. and Lillian Amman Chiles.  

Friends remember Ann as super smart and super fun. She was a graduate of Austin High School and earned her B.S. from the University of Texas at Austin in 1962. At UT she was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority and enjoyed that affiliation, as well as The Junior League (Houston and Jackson, MS), for many years.  

After graduation from UT, Ann was a math teacher in Dallas and then Houston. She married Edwin Smith Graham, III on June 22, 1968. They lived for several years in New Orleans before settling in Jackson, Miss., where they lived until 1979, when they moved to Graham.

In Graham, Ann was active in church leadership as both Treasurer and Organist for Holy Spirit Episcopal Church. She served many years on the board of Graham Regional Medical Center and was a weekly volunteer for many organizations, including Meals on Wheels.

Ann embraced life. She was artistic and had a great eye for all things beautiful. She was a fabulous cook and loved to entertain in their home. She was a prankster with a great sense of humor. She was a woman who loved her family fiercely. She also loved going to the movies and to plays, drinking Coke Slurpees, cheering for the University of Texas, spending time with her life-long friends, and traveling. She was not so fond of Possum Kingdom Lake and animals.

She is survived by two sons, Edwin “Win” S. Graham, IV and wife Suzy, and John “Jack” Chiles Graham and wife Angie, all of Graham; one sister, Sue Chiles Harris; and six grandchildren, Smith, Hank, Michel, Jack Jr., Mary Lyndell, and Lillian.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, Sept. 29 at 3 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Graham with Dr. Ben Disney, pastor, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts be made to the Meals on Wheels, 825 Fairview Street, Graham, TX 76450.

Jason Lynn Reed, 48, of Graham, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2019 at his home.

A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 1, at 11 a.m. at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Funeral Home in Wichita Falls. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Monday, Sept. 31, at the funeral home.

Jason was born on March 29, 1971 in Wichita Falls to Tom Reed and Connie Allen Reed. He grew up racing BMX bikes and playing football as a kicker for Rider High School. Jason married Cindy Caskey on Dec. 31, 2009 in Graham. He loved to hit golf balls and owned and operated J. Reed Lawn Care and More doing the yard work he loved. He had lived in Graham for 10 years moving from Wichita Falls. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Brownie and Thomas Reed and Oletha and Jessie Allen.

Survivors include his wife: Cindy Reed of Graham; his parents: Tom Reed, of Plano, and Connie Reed, of Wichita Falls; children: Corbin (Baby boy) Hendrix and fiancé Samantha Blake, of Wichita Falls, Jacee Reed, of Colorado Springs, Colo., Richie Parker, of Dallas, Kristin Strawbridge, of Graham, and Tyler Fore, of Wichita Falls; grandchildren: Lilah Blake and Grayson Daniel; his sister: Kelly Reed of Wichita Falls; his only niece Kandace Mandace; great- nephew: Boozum Blaine; aunt: Rayma Molock; and cousins: Pam, Sharon, Donna, Willie, Bridgett, Trevor, Heather, Ken, Ginger and husband Billy Mann.

Mickey Nunley

Mickey Nunley, 80, of Snyder, died Sunday, Sept. 29, 2019 at Cogdell Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. 

Funeral services were set for 2 p.m. Thursday at Colonial Hill Baptist Church with Kinney Robinson officiating. A private family graveside service followed at Hillside Memorial Gardens under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home. 

Visitation was held from 5-6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. 

He was born to Gerald and Murle Nunley on Oct. 25, 1938 in Jermyn and was reared in Graham. Mickey and JoAnn Thompson were married on Jan., 4 1958. He was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone company and they made their home in Snyder, where he has been very active in civic affairs.

He served as President of Snyder Jaycees and Vice President of Texas Jaycee in 1968 and 1969. 

In September 1969 Mickey became manager of Snyder Chamber of Commerce and in 1976 he resigned to become Vice President of Roscoe, Snyder and Pacific Railroad. He was elected President in 1977.
He also served as President of National Railcar & RS&P Railroad, Inc. He sold his interest in these companies and became Vice President of Snyder National Bank in June 1982. 

He was also President of Scurry County Historical Commission, Vice President of West Texas Rehabilitation Center, President of Scurry County Boy’s Club (Outstanding Coach in 1965), Vice President of Snyder High School Quarterback Club and served as Sgt. at Arms for Toastmasters. He was also an active member of Snyder City council and Vice President of Snyder County Club.

During the summer he was an instructor for A&M Fireman’s Training School as volunteer for Snyder Fire Department he received fireman of the year in 1966.

Throughout his professional career he was owner and operator of several small businesses around Snyder including; National Fuel and Lubricants, Industrial Hose and Supply, The Plaza Truck Stop and the Handi Mart.

Survivors include his wife, JoAnn Nunley of the home; a daughter Rhonda Bratton and husband R. Louis of Austin and a son, Rollen Nunley of Snyder. Five grandchildren including Brooks Nunley and wife Karis of Friendswood; Emma Maynard and husband Austin of San Antonio; Hannah Temple and husband Jordan of Austin; Sarabeth Bratton and fiancé Stephen Dellert of Austin; and Lilian Bratton of Austin.

Four great-grandchildren including Zaylee Nunley, Jaxson Nunley, Maycee Belle Nunley, Hailey Temple, and soon to be Major Maynard of San Antonio. Two sisters Judy Smith of Graham and Gaye Steadham of Graham. He was proceeded in death by a sister Glenda Adams of Cloudcroft, N.M. and a brother, Gerry Bob Nunley of Graham.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the doctors, nurses and hospice at Cogdell Memorial Hospital for their care and support.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made at West Texas Rehabilitation Center in Abilene, Cogdell Memorial Hospice, or charity of choice.

Marvin O. Shafer Jr., 94, passed away Thursday, Oct. 3, 2019 in Graham. Visitation was Sunday, Oct. 6, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home. A Graveside was Monday, Oct. 7, at 11 a.m. in Newcastle Cemetery in Newcastle under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.

Marvin was born Jan. 11, 1925 in Best to the late Marvin Ozias Shafer and Eddie Naomi Hooker Shafer. He was a World War II Veteran of the U.S. Navy. Marvin married Johnnie B. Boyles, May 1, 1947 in San Angelo. He was a retired conductor for Santa Fe Railroad. Marvin moved to Graham in 1988 from Lubbock. He was a member of Young County Masonic Lodge #485. He was a member of Salem-Crestview United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Johnnie B. Shafer, of Graham; daughters, Sharon Sumner and husband, Jasper, of Graham, and Paula Wells and husband, Kenneth, of Arizona City, Ariz.; son, Denis Hill Shafer, of Liberty Hill; grandchildren, Leslie Wells, of Lubbock, Kevin Sumner, of Graham, Jody Wells and wife, Katherine, of Lubbock, Michael Sumner and wife, Kelly, of Midlothian, Lori Hufstedler and husband, Joshua, of Graham; great grandchildren, Hannah, Kate, Emma, Owen, Jacob, Mackenzie, Emily, Kolby and Luke.

Linda Jo (Prissy) Wilson passed away Oct. 4, 2019 in Graham. A family visitation was from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, at McMillan-Satterwhite Funeral Home followed by a graveside service at 11:30 a.m. at Graceland Cemetery in Jermyn.

Prissy was born July 22, 1951 in Olney and had lived in Graham most of her life. She was a member of the Country Road Fellowship.

Survivors include her husband, Sam Wilson of Graham; two sons, Bill Jonas and wife Michelle and Samuel Wilson II; daughter, Rebecca Stephens; two brothers, Darryl Hammond and wife Jan, Randy Hammond and wife Angie; 11 grandchildren, Dustin Jonas, Cap Fellows, Dylan Youngblood, Hunter Youngblood, Tristen Wilson, Trevor Wilson, Samantha Youngblood, Faith Guttery, Aaron Wilson, R.J. Merritt and Natalie Merritt; four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Durwood and Jean Hammond and by a son, Charlie Wilson.

Funeral services for Allen Davis will be held in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview on Friday, Oct. 11, 2019 at 12 p.m.; a visitation will be held the hour prior to the service. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 12, at 2 p.m. at Moran Cemetery in Moran. Allen went to be with the Lord on the morning of Oct. 6.

Allen Davis was born in Wichita Falls on Feb. 21, 1950 to parents Linnie and Carlie Horton Davis. He lived in Wichita Falls through his childhood and then moved to Graham where he graduated from Graham High School. Following his graduation, Allen attended Midwestern University in Wichita Falls. He retired from Luminant after a 40 year career as a Geologist. Allen served as a Scoutmaster for Troop 620.

Allen was a loving husband and father, a generous and caring friend, a lover of nature and all of God’s creatures, and a purist who enjoyed the peace and introspection of every sunrise and sunset.

Those that preceded Allen in death include his parents, Linnie and Carlie Davis, as well as his grandparents, Eldon and Jesse Horton. Those left to cherish their memories of Allen include his wife, Pamela Johnson Davis, the daughter of James and Lola Johnson, of Moran; son Brandon Davis with his wife April; and grandson Elliott. Allen will also be remembered by his numerous extended family and friends.

Jackie Dale Rhodes, Sr., passed away Monday, Oct. 7, 2019 in Graham. Visitation will be Friday, Oct. 11, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home. Graveside services will be Saturday, Oct. 12, at 10 a.m. in Woodson Cemetery in Woodson under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.

Jackie was born March 30, 1950 in Jacksboro to the late Clifton Ernest and Lola May (Pippin) Rhodes. He married Linda Ridley Jan. 1, 1993 and she preceded him in death June 6, 2009. Jackie attended Newcastle High School and worked for Rhodes Lawn Care. Jackie had many pass times that always included his family and close friends that he considered his family.  Fun trips to the casinos and visiting Ruidoso, N.M., spending time with family at birthday parties and holidays were tops on his lists. He enjoyed watching his granddaughters dance and play sports and supporting them in all their many school activities. Being outdoors was important to his way of life and showed an amazing work ethic in his lawn care business that he leaves as a legacy for his son to carry on as they have worked together for many years serving their loyal customers.  Jackie was a good example to his family and friends of how to work hard and love others and he will forever be missed.

Survivors include: daughter, Amber Boland and husband, J.T., of Woodson; sons, Jackie Rhodes, Jr. and wife, Terri, of Graham and Stacy Lane, of Chicago, Illinois; special friend, Glenda Shupp, of Graham; sisters, Thelma Wilson, of Breckenridge and Mary Willems, of Ada, Okla.; brothers, John Rhodes, of Kansas, Billy Rhodes, of Mingus, Charlie Rhodes, of Newcastle, Boone Rhodes, of Graham, and James Rhodes, of Olney; grandchildren, Tarynn and Ella Hearne.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Sally Dunlap and brothers, George Rhodes, Joe Rhodes, and Robert Rhodes.

Robin Elizabeth Keith, 60, departed this life Friday, Oct. 4, 2019 in Graham. A Visitation will be Thursday, Oct. 10 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home. Graveside funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday Oct. 11 in Loving Cemetery, Loving, under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.

Robin was born Feb. 23, 1959 in Olney. She graduated from Jacksboro High School in 1977 and was a LVN having graduated from Ranger College in 1998. Robin was a prolific writer and gifted artist, completing many poems, short stories, and beautiful paintings and drawings. She was the editor of Jacksboro newspapers for ten years.

Survivors include; husband, Jimmy Dale Keith, of Graham; children, Scott Keith; Sarah Gathings and husband Trey all of Graham; Bonnie Davis and husband Perry, of Wichita Falls; three grandchildren; mother, Elaine Gates and husband Carl, of Graham; mom, Doris Ware, of Paradise; brothers, Mike Ware and wife Diana, of Loving, Robert Lee Ware III, of Chico, Terry Gates and wife Margaret, of Graham; sisters, Shana Gates, of Graham, Angela Tidwell and husband Lance, of Hutto; and several nieces and nephews.

Robin was preceded in death by her father, Bob Ware, Jr., niece Carrie Elizabeth Gates, nephew Ryan Ware, and twin infant grandchildren Morley Ray and Ryland Luka Gathings.

Mary Ann Ferguson, 80, passed away on Oct. 7, 2019 in Midland. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 18, at First Baptist Church of Possum Kingdom.

Ann was born in Floydada and attended school there, before marrying the love of her life, Ray Gene Ferguson, on Feb. 2, 1957. Although Ann had clerical jobs at the Floyd County Court House and Floydada Coop Gin, her true calling was as a wife and mother. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, cooking, and "lake life" with her family.

Like her mother before her, Ann was known for her delicious hot rolls and was always eager to share. In retirement, Ann stayed involved in her community and church, always looking for an opportunity to pitch in. Travel, game nights, and ladies' clubs were always favorite activities. She was known for her outgoing personality and truly never met a stranger! Ann's passion for being a mother was only exceeded by her joy of becoming Mimi to her grandchildren. Always their biggest fan, she could be found at various sporting events, parties, or graduations. She stayed supportive and involved, as long as her health allowed.

Ann is preceded in death by her husband Ray Gene, brother Billy Finley, daughter and son-in-law Leanne and Bob Jamison and son-in-law Kevin Reker. Ann is survived by brother George Finley and wife Eva, daughter Kelli Reker, granddaughter Emily Reker, grandson Adam Reker and wife Kelsey, granddaughter MaryCastaneda and husband Samuel and great grandson Beau Reker. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to First Baptist Church of Possum Kingdom. The family of Ann wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the dedicated people of Manor Park and Star Hospice for their love and care.

Charles W. “C.W.” Mathis passed away Oct. 13, 2019, at his home near Graham. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Gazebo in Newcastle Cemetery. Family visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at McMillan-Satterwhite Funeral Home.

Mr. Mathis was born March 6, 1940 in Dale. He was a retired pipefitter and cattle rancher. He was preceded in death by two sons, Bill Mathis in 2008 and Jeffery Mathis in 2017 and by a daughter in law, Sophia Mathis in 2017.

Survivors include his wife, Pat Mathis of Graham; four sons, Bud Mathis and wife Kris, Mike Mathis, Mark Mathis and wife Georgia, Randy Mathis and wife Sheila; brother, Kenneth Mathis; sister Fay Mathis; 15 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.

Nancy Williams Bryan, 78, passed away Thursday, Oct. 17, 2019 in Graham. Funeral services will be Saturday, Oct. 19, at 11 a.m. in Morrison Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Pioneer Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.

Nancy was born Nov. 22, 1940, to CD and Neita Williams in Breckenridge and at age 2 moved to Fort Worth. At age 5 she and her parents moved to Eliasville. She attended elementary school in Eliasville and transferred to Graham for Jr. High and graduated from Graham High School in 1959. She married the love of her life Pat Bryan, III on Feb. 2, 1960 and they moved to Austin where Pat was a student at the University of Texas. Upon his graduation they moved back to Graham where she has resided the remainder of her life. Pat preceded her in death May 2, 1986.

Nancy was a member of First Baptist Church of Graham, Lifetime member of the Graham Regional Hospital Auxiliary where she served in many areas, but loved working in the gift shop where she never met a stranger. She was also very active in the community where she was a member of a Couples Dinner Bridge Group several years ago then in a Ladies Bridge Club, Graham Garden Club and served many years in the Graham Chapter of CLSC.

Nancy is survived by son, Pat Bryan IV of Archer City; daughter, Neita Beth Dadd and husband, Paul of Port Isabel; sister, Connie York and husband, Gary of Graham; brother-in-law, Tim Bryan of Wichita Falls; grandsons, Max and Sebastian Curry, two great grandsons, and three great granddaughters; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of close friends.

She was preceded in death by parents, husband, Pat; sister-in-law, Sherry Bryan, and brother-in-law, Kelly Bryan.

The family would like to express their thanks and appreciation to the staff at Elmcroft Senior Living where she has resided for the last 3 1/2 years, Graham Regional Hospital, and Beyond Faith Hospice for the excellent care Nancy has received.

Jeffri “Joy” Frazier

Jeffri “Joy” Frazier went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2019 in Abilene due to kidney failure. A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at McMillan-Satterwhite Funeral Home in Graham.

Joy was born Oct. 19, 1956 in Aspermont, to Merle Dean and J.W. Frazier. Survivors include sisters Miritha Caperton and husband Sam of Graham; Judy Barlow and husband Clayton of Ocala, Fla.; Glenda Rogers and husband Tommy of Breckenridge; and brother Jimmy Frazier and wife Lori of Cedar Park; 13 nieces and nephews and 17 great nieces and nephews. Joy attended grade school in Breckenridge, junior high in Graham and high school in Muleshoe. Joy lived in Graham many years.

She was a faithful member of the Second Baptist Church in Abilene. Joy was an avid sports fan, following the Dallas Cowboys, the Graham Steers and Lady Blues. You could often see her red hair and hear her rooting for her teams. She had a remarkable memory for people and seldom forgot names or faces. Joy will be remembered for her friendliness and her bright smile.

Kenneth E. Hayes, 65, passed away Thursday, Oct. 17, 2019 in Graham. A graveside service will be Tuesday, Oct. 22, at 2 p.m. in Farmer Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.

Kenneth was born in Olney, Illinois on Dec. 22, 1953 to Chester Hayes and Frances Gann Hayes. He attended Graham High School. He served in the U.S. Army. Kenneth married Sandra Bouleris in Graham on Feb. 18, 1995.

Survivors include wife, Sandra Hayes of Graham; daughter, Kammie Hayes, of Mineral Wells; stepsons, Dean Spurlin, of Graham, and James Spurlin, of Weatherford; sisters, Violet Alanez, of Graham, Debby Mooney, of Oxford, Ala., and Stella Hayes of New Boston; brothers, Terry Hayes of Wichita Falls and Billy Hayes of Lubbock, eight grandchildren, and one great grandchild.

Doris Jane Burke-Love, 62, passed away in Amarillo, on Sept. 5. Jane was born on Jan. 31, 1957 in Graham, to the late J.D. Burke and Barbara Wood-Burke.

Jane graduated from Graham High School in 1975. She then attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock, and Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Ariz. Jane’s greatest passion was reading and she made a career she loved as a book buyer. Her love for travel took her to New York City, where she would live and work for many years and always consider home. She worked for Barnes and Noble and considered her coworkers family. Jane was a loyal supporter of Women’s Rights and was an active member of the Democratic party. She inherited her enthusiasm for politics from her mother, Barbara. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include her son, Matthew Hubbell of Amarillo; brother Danny Burke of Suzhou, China; niece, Danielle Tyler and husband Ryan of Albuquerque, N.M.; nephew, Andrew Burke of Wichita Falls; and many cousins and countless friends.

There will be a memorial service at the Morrison Funeral Home Chapel in Graham, on Nov. 3, at 2 p.m.

Memorials can be made to the J.D Burke Scholarship Fund at Graham High School.

Johnny Lee Pardue

Johnny Lee Pardue, of Weatherford, went home to be with Jesus on Thursday, Oct. 17, 2019 at home. He was a disabled Army Veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Susan Pardue; son John Pardue; sister, Nelda Brown; numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Graveside services were held at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery on Thursday, Oct. 24, 2019.

Kerry Dean Sanders, 36, passed away in Decatur on Saturday, Oct. 19, 2019. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 26, at the Eagle Drive Baptist Church in Decatur. Burial will follow in the Albany cemetery in Albany. Arrangements are under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.

Kerry was born on March 23, 1983 in Brownwood, to Jerry Sanders and Pamela Hall Sanders. He graduated from Bryson High School and attended TSTC Sweetwater. He was a cherished member of the Eagle Drive Baptist Church family. Kerry was always the life of the party with his witty jokes and outgoing personality, you could not be in the same room as him without laughing. He and his son, Tucker, were constantly in competition of who could tell the best jokes. He adored his children and tried to be as involved as possible in their lives. He coached many little league teams throughout the years as well as just about every other sport that the kids decided to try out. Kerry was a big fitness buff and was dubbed the “Mayor of Fit-n-Wise” at his home gym. When he was not at the gym or with his kids he could be found loving on his k-9 son, Kreed.

Kerry is survived by his children, Gracie Thompson, of Paradise and Tucker Sanders, of Paradise; mother, Pam Sanders, of Bryson; close friend, Jasmine Stark, of Paradise; brother, JV Sanders and wife Christine, of Sweeney, and twin brother, Wayne Sanders and wife Davin, of East Africa; and nephews, Tyler Sanders, Jerry Sanders, Bryson Sanders, Tristan Sanders, Jasper Sanders, Miles Sanders, and Soren Sanders.

Kerry was preceded in death by his dad, Jerry Dean Sanders on Jan. 5, 2004.

Visitation was held Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Walter Henry Byerly, 87, passed away Monday, Oct. 21, 2019 surrounded by his family at his home. Services were Friday, Oct. 25, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.

Walter was born in Brown County on the family farm Nov. 13, 1931 to the late Iva McClanahan and Lee Byerly. He married his high school sweetheart, Mary Jane Akers, in Graham, on Dec. 23, 1950 at First Baptist Church. He was a long time member of FBC where he faithfully served as Sunday School teacher and wherever he was needed. He was a hard working man and always provided for his family. He enjoyed horseback riding, working with cattle, snow skiing with his family and vacations in the mountains.

He is survived by his wife of almost 69 years, Mary Jane Byerly, of Graham; two daughters, Sylvia, of Ft. Collins, Colo. and Jan Crow, of Graham; one son Scott, of Graham; six grandchildren, Beraiah Byerly, of Anchorage, Ala., Chance and Shara Crow, of Cuero, Joshua and Sarah Crow, of Georgetown, MacKenzie Crow, of Stephenville, Misty Seals, of Fayetteville, Ark., Sloan Byerly, of Austin, Sam Byerly, of Graham. He also had four great grandchildren, Maverick, Marston, Marshal and Samuel Crow.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Iva McClanahan Byerly, his father Lee Byerly, his brother Jack Byerly and an aunt who raised him Hettie McClanahan.

Milton Ray Capps, age 79, of Midland, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 27, 2019. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, at First Baptist Church of Bryson. The service will be conducted by Pastor Billy Rhone. Interment will follow at the Cottonwood Cemetery, Bryson.

Milton was born on Jan. 14, 1940, in Pittsburg, to Marvin and Eva Capps. Graduated from Midland High School in 1958. He married Janice Foye Powell Dec. 24, 1960. In 1968, Milton began to serve as a Minister of the Gospel. He was Pastor of Friendship Baptist Church in Mansfield from 1971 till 1974 and from 1974 to 1984. He was Pastor of Post Oak Baptist Church in Post Oak.

Brother Milton served as an Evangelist, from 1984 to 1988, preaching in various Churches in Texas, Brazil and India. In 1989, Bro. Milton was called to Pastor the First Baptist Church of Bryson and continued there until his retirement in 2006 and then in 2014, Bro. Milton and Jan moved to Midland to be with family.

Milton is survived by his wife of 58 years, Janice Capps. One son, Kevin and his wife Katherine of Midland. One daughter, LaVoyce and her husband Mike Ewing of Lawrence, Kan. Six Grandchildren; Kellen and his wife Ginny Capps. Anna Elizabeth and her husband Joseph Klein. Keta Ewing, Kala Ewing, Benjamin Capps and Cassandra Capps. Seven great-grandchildren; Alexxus, Shelbie, Ashlin, Michael, Joseph, Noah and Mercy Grace. An extended family of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces; all for whom love and respect were his constant expression.

Milton is preceded in death by his parents: Marvin and Eva Capps. And by his three brothers: George Capps, Joe Capps and Marvin Capps, Jr.
