Albert Edwin Key

Albert Edwin Key, 93, died Friday, Jan. 5, 2018, at Brookdale in Graham. Funeral services were 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 7, at Olney Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Rev. David Carpenter and Scotte Clark officiating. Interment followed at Restland Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.
Edwin was born March 17, 1924 in Megargel, to the late George Andrew Key and Margaret Estelle Campbell Key. As a toddler, Edwin watched his mother in the kitchen and learned, to the delight of friends and family, how to bake award-winning pies and rolls.
After graduating Megargel High School in 1941, Edwin’s pursuit of a bachelor of music degree at Southern Methodist University was interrupted in 1943 by service in the Army. The 552nd Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battalion landed on Day 3 of the Normandy Invasion and proceeded to march across Europe.
Following World War II, Edwin continued his music degree, graduating from SMU in 1948. He was an active wheat farmer and cattle rancher all his adult life.
Edwin and Frances James Key were married on May 5, 1950, in Graham. They made their home in Olney, where Edwin and Frances began sharing their passion for music by influencing the lives of thousands of students, from near and far, through piano and organ instruction in Key Studio.
He was a member of Wichita Falls Music Teachers Association for 65 years and was awarded Pre-Collegiate Teacher of the Year by the state organization, Texas Music Teachers Association. Edwin and Frances also were honored to be chosen as Music Teachers National Association Foundation Fellows, representing Texas.
Edwin was a member of the Olney Cumberland Presbyterian Church where he served as organist for 69 years and as an elder and Christian education teacher. The Olney Chamber of Commerce bestowed the Pioneer of the Year Award to Edwin and Frances for their years of service to the community.
Edwin is survived by his wife, Frances Key of Graham; daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Gary Glover of Olney; granddaughters, Sarah Glover Kidd and husband, Joshua Kidd of Graham, and Kate Glover Evetts and husband, Cole Evetts of Austin; great-grandsons, Jackson and Carson Kidd; brother and sister-in-law, Clifton and JoAn Key of Olney; and sister-in-law, Sarah Key of Comanche.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Dwight Key and Floyd Key.
Family visitation was Saturday, Jan. 6, from 5 to 6 p.m. at Lunn Funeral Home in Olney.

Kenneth Earl "Kenny" Davis, 55, passed away Sunday, Jan. 7, 2018 in Wichita Falls. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, in Morrison Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Pioneer Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.
Kenny was born Jan. 19, 1962 in Graham, to Robert E. and Kay Senkel Davis. Kenny was a client of Mexia State School and later moved to a MHMR group home in Graham.
Survivors include his mother, Katherin (Kay) Davis of Graham; brothers, Michael Davis and wife Kathy of Fort Worth, and Edward Davis and wife Tracy of Fort Worth; sister, Martha Kay Davis of Wichita Falls; nephews and nieces, Phillip, Linda, Emily, Hailey and Katherine Davis; and longtime caregiver, Katie Luna.
Kenny was preceded in death by his father, Robert E. Davis, in November 2016 and grandparents, Erwin and Vera Senkel and P.W. and Elizabeth Davis.

Robert Charles Calcote

Robert Charles Calcote, 87, passed away Monday, Jan. 8, 2018 in Graham. A memorial service will be held at Eastside Church of Christ at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 13. Arrangements are under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.
Robert was born Dec. 24, 1930 in Fort Worth, to the late Roy Gibson and Mae Madera Calcote. He married Sandra Sue Hill Dec. 23, 1950 in Clovis, New Mexico. He served two years of service in the Air Force in the late 1940s.
Robert and Sandra began their 67 year journey of marriage in Lubbock, where they raised five children. (Michael, Tim, Teresa, Ross and Neal) Sadly, they outlived Ross and Neal, who are both buried in Graham.
Robert had been a bricklayer, house builder, and remodeler for 68 years. In 1969, he became a member of the Sunset Church of Christ in Lubbock. Once a member, he became consumed with the life religion afforded him. Two years later, in the summer of 1971, he graduated the Sunset School of Preaching and moved his family from Lubbock to Reedsport, Ore., where he served many years as the preacher for the Reedsport Church of Christ. In the 1980s, it was time to come back to Graham, the home of his mother, Mae Madera. Since that time, he has been a member of the Eastside Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra Calcote of Graham; daughter, Teresa Downer of Reedsport, Ore.; sons, T.K. Calcote of Graham and Michael Calcote of McKinney; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Charles H. Wright Sr.
Charles H. ‘Pops’ Wright Sr., 75, died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018 in Amarillo. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, at First Baptist Church in Olney, with Rev. Steve Ulrey officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodson Cemetery in Woodson. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.
Charles was born Nov. 10, 1942 in Paducah, Cottle County, to the late Buford Earl Wright Sr. and Margaret Elinor (Ervin) Wright. He married Evelyn Ann Turner Dec. 22, 1962 in Rochester.
He started his law enforcement career Oct. 1, 1964 as a deputy in Quanah. He served in Seymour, Baylor County from 1965 to 1966. He served in Snyder from 1967 to 1968 and also drove an ambulance with Odis Glasscock with the Snyder Ambulance Service.
He served with the Midland Sheriff’s Department from 1968 to 1970 and as a Brownfield deputy from 1970 to 1973. Charles was chief of police in Seagraves from 1973 to 1975 and then served as sheriff of the Hemphill County Sheriff’s Department in Canadian from 1975 to 1984.
He left law enforcement in 1985 to become the manager for his daughter’s show, Sheila Helton Country Music Show. Charles was also the owner of Marly D. Hotshot and Hauling and Wright’s Answering Service from 1981 to 1985.
He moved to Olney and worked for the Olney Police Department from 2011 to 2017, and then worked for the Young County Sheriff’s Office as jailer and transport officer from 2017 until present.
Charles was a member of the Texas Sheriff’s Association, the Blue Knight Riders Club and the Patriot Guard. He was active with the Boy Scouts of America and served as leader and district leader in both Seagraves and Canadian. He was affectionately known as “Pawpaw” to his grandkids and great-grandkids, and thoroughly enjoyed their ballgames, rodeos and fun times with family.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ann Wright on Aug. 22, 2006; one sister; one brother and one great-grandson.
Survivors include two daughters, Sheila Steward and husband, Ray, of McLean and Lorraine England and husband, Curtis, of Iowa Park; two sons, Charles H. Wright Jr. of Olney and John Helton and wife, Melissa, of Mobeetie; one brother, Ronald Wright Sr. of Seymour; one sister, Marilyn McGough of Seymour; three sisters-in-law, Linda Wright of Archer City, Maxine Ingle and husband, Tommy, of Beeville and Frankie Franklin and husband, Ted, of Slaton; three brothers-in-law, Buddy Lee of Abilene, Sam (Jr.) Turner and wife, Shirlan, of Granbury and Kenny Turner and wife, Judy, of Nashville, Tenn.; 14 grandchildren, Marlana, Charly and Calvin Helton, Candice and Chandra Wright, Chasidy McCullough, Caleb and Cayleigh England, Christine Hyatt, Connie and Joey Day, Christy Blaylock, Clint and Amber Steward, Nikki and Mario Perez, Mitch and Melanie Steward; 27 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Family visitation is Friday, Jan. 12, from 6-7 p.m. at Lunn Funeral Home in Olney.

Mary Faye Casteel passed away Jan. 10, 2018 in Oklahoma City. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, at McMillan-Satterwhite Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Newcastle Cemetery. Family visitation is 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Faye was born May 9, 1936 in Newcastle, to Gilbert T. and Beatrice Webb. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Graham and worked many years for the Loren Maples Company and Discount Carpet.
Survivors include two sons, Rob Casteel and Maria of Haslet,, and Steve Casteel and wife, Renay, of Graham; daughter, Kathy Gregory and husband, Walter, of McLoud, Okla.; five grandchildren, Dustin Casteel, Charity Judge, Samantha Chiffriller, Brent Casteel and Katelyn Casteel; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; and two sisters, Carolyn Wooldridge and Virginia Frazier.
Faye was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Franklin Casteel, in 2006.

Doris Corbin Gibson, 96, of Fort Worth passed away Tuesday night Dec. 12, 2017.
A memorial service will be held at the United First Methodist Church Chapel in Graham at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20. A graveside service was held Tuesday, Dec. 19 at Laurel Land Cemetery, Fort Worth.
Doris was born in Muskogee, Okla., Jan. 30, 1921. She graduated from Wichita Falls High School and lived most of her life in Graham, where she retired after many years as a senior engineering assistant at the Texas Highway Department. A lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church, she was also a member of the Silas Morton Chapter NSDAR, CLSC, Graham Woman’s Club, Lions Club, Country Club and Young County Republican Party, and a member of the Fort Worth Women's Club and several DAR area Regents’ Councils. Doris enjoyed duplicate and social bridge for many years.
She was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, National Society of the Colonial Dames of America, the Colonial Dames of the XVII Century and National Society of the Daughters of the United States of 1812. She served the State Society of NSDAR as state librarian, state recording secretary and state chaplain.
Doris and her husband, Charles, were ballroom dance enthusiasts and members of Fort Worth Farando and Metro dance clubs and the Big Band Dance Club in Wichita Falls. She was an avid college football fan and a dedicated supporter of the Oklahoma Sooners.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Helen and Howard Corbin; her husband of 28 years; and sister, Kathleen Green.
Survivors include her daughter, Sharon Allen and husband, Chris, and daughter, Dawn Ellison; granddaughter, Courtney Amason and husband, Bryan; great-grandchildren, Blayne and Myles Amason, and Codi and her husband, Kaden Walters; nieces and their families and great friends in Graham and Fort Worth.

James "Jimmy" Lester Lowe, 54, passed away Sunday, Jan. 14, 2018 in Graham. Memorial services will be held Monday, Jan. 22, at 2 p.m. in Graham Church of God.
Jimmy was born Nov. 27, 1963 in Olney, to C.L. Lowe and Maria Reyna. He married Carolyn Jo Smith Nov. 29, 2006 in Graham. He was an All-Star Baseball player and a minister of churches in Wichita Falls and Graham.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Lowe of Graham; daughters, Sydney Lowe and Mary Lowe of Olney, and Amanda Ownby and Jessica Calhoun of Graham; sons, Kevin and Justin Strawbridge of Graham; sister, Karen Lynn Lowe and Josh Bucsh of Graham; 12 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Amber Lowe, and his father, C.L. Lowe.

Faye Dell Calhoun Proffitt

Faye Dell Proffitt, 91, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2018. Visitation was Friday, Jan. 19, from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, in the Graham Church of God. Burial will follow in Pioneer Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.
Faye was born July 17, 1926 in Graham, to Albert Cleo and Mabel Jean (West) Calhoun. She married Hollis William Proffitt, Jan. 22, 1944, in Graham. He preceded her in death Oct. 25, 1992. Faye was a lifetime resident of Graham and a member of Graham Church of God. She was a former employee of Walmart, nurse’s aide for many years, and a homemaker.
Faye loved to travel and enjoyed many family vacations with her children and grandchildren around the U. S. and Mexico. She adored all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and Nana spent as much time as she could with them, riding roller coasters, playing games and just having fun.
Survivors include her daughters, Margie Barr and husband, Ira, of Graham, and Brenda Jones and husband, Dick, of Graford; six grandchildren, Rebecca Davis, Steven Holman, Chad Proffitt, Kyle Jones and wife, Cassie, Kevin Jones and wife, Megan, and Keith Jones and fiancee, Heaven; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Faye was preceded in death by her parents; son, William Proffitt; grandson, Johnny Ray Holman; granddaughter, Carol Thompson; great-granddaughter, Amber Lowe; and three sisters, Marie Gathings, Jolene Savis and Annette Green.

Rev. Buford Collins Stockard

Buford Collins Stockard was born in December 1919 in Frost, and died Jan. 16, 2018 in Corsicana. His parents were William Newton Stockard and Mary Collins Stockard. He and Catherine Ponder Stockard celebrated 67 years of marriage before she passed away.
He was a World War II Army veteran of the Pacific Theatre. Rev. Stockard pastored a church in Burnet and the Morningside Baptist Church in Graham, for 31 years.
He is survived by his children and their spouses, Sharon and Jerry Cearley, Nan Stockard, David and Linda Stockard, and Jon and Gerlinde Stockard; a sister, Joann Chilton; nine grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
A brother Bert Stockard and sister Lorena Winton preceded him in death.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 20 in the Corley Funeral Home Chapel in Corsicana, with Rev. David W. Stockard officiating. A time of visitation will be at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.

Herbert Henry Stockton

Herbert Henry Stockton, 89, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2018 at home in Graham. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 20, at 10 a.m. in Morrison Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. in Buffalo Gap Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.
Herbert was born Dec. 18, 1928 in Buffalo Gap, to the late Charles Wesley and Lena Myrtle (Ellinger) Stockton. He married Joyce Ross in 1952 in County Line, Okla., and she preceded him in death in 2000.
Herbert was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a retired Dallas firefighter. He moved to Graham in 2003 from Buffalo Gap and was a member of First Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include her daughter, Sheree Hayes and husband, Pastor Gaylord Hayes of Graham; son, Henry "Biff" Stockton and wife, Vicki of Graham; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the funeral home.

Hoyt Lee Cranfill

Hoyt Lee Cranfill passed away Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2018, at the age of 87. He was born Aug. 22, 1930, to Homer and Velma Cranfill, in Colorado City. Hoyt was the oldest of four children, and is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Joann Cranfill Huff.
Hoyt graduated from Premont High School in 1948, attended Texas A&I University in Kingsville, graduated from South Plains Junior College in 1975, and attended Texas Tech University. He married Betty Joy Brewton on Feb. 4, 1956 in Alice.
Hoyt worked for Mobil Oil and Transwestern Pipeline and in 1965 he went into full-time ministry, serving as minister for the Church of Christ. He preached and lived in the communities of Fort Sumner, N.M., Anton, Texas and Sunray, Texas for a total of 15 years. Hoyt went on to work for Enron while they lived in Canadian, until early retirement. He moved to Lubbock and began working for Lawson Products and subsequently moved to Graham, to finish his career and fully retire.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Joy Brewton, and his children, Amy Cranfill Rogers (Brian) and Sam (Cindy) Cranfill; grandchildren, Brandy and Ashley Booth; his sisters, Judy (Thearl) Nelson and Gaynell (Hadley) Hall; 12 nieces and nephews; and countless brothers and sisters in Christ.
Hoyt was an avid cyclist and belonged to the Lubbock Bicycle Club and won many medals in the Senior Olympics.
The funeral will be held at the Eastside Church of Christ, 705 Indiana St. in Graham, at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27. Burial will follow in Pioneer Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.

Charlie Key, 72, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2018 in Wichita Falls. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 27, at 4 p.m. in Morrison Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Pioneer Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.
Charlie was born Aug. 13, 1945 in Seymour, to the late J.R. and Bobbie Nell (Couch) Key. He married Pattie Sloan Sept. 2, 1989 in Murray. Charlie was a retired correctional officer. He loved working on his 1955 Chevy and watching old Westerns with his beloved pets, Rex and Moe. Charlie loved attending and participating in truck and car shows and spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Pattie Key of Murray; daughters, Kim Sears and husband, John, of Graham and Dr. Elicia Hogan and husband, Joey, of Franklin; sons, Jimmy Key and wife, Stacy, of Graham and Dr. Truman Sloan of Denver, Colo.; grandchildren, Kortney Kimberlin, Eric Key, Danny Key, Christie Gibson, Sara Little, Jeb Hogan and Baylee Hogan; and great-grandchildren, Kayden, Brayden, Payton, Reagan, Jaxon and Lyla.
Visitation will be held Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Dora Louise Lee passed away Thursday, Jan. 25, 2018 in Graham. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, at Pioneer Cemetery in Graham. McMillan-Satterwhite Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Lee was born Nov. 13, 1925, to D. Franklin and Ida (Seawright) Blalock, in Vivian, Foard County. She married Robert M. Lee on Oct. 13, 1945 in Gladewater. She and her husband owned and operated Bob Lee Perforating Company for many years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Graham.
Survivors include a son, Tracey Lee; three nieces, Dee Smith, Judy Pitman and Loran Clark; nephew, Kenneth Blalock; and a dear friend, Betty Barrett Willis.
Lee was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter, Kay Bray, one brother and three sisters.

Janet Runay Sloan

Janet Runay Sloan, 68, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2018 in Newcastle. Funeral services will be held Sunday, Jan. 28, at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist Church in Newcastle. Burial will follow in Wray Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.
Janet was born April 7, 1949 in Graham, to the late Charlie Posie and Zona Marie (Elms) Sloan. She graduated from Newcastle High School and was a retired paint supervisor at TRC. Janet was an avid supporter of Newcastle Ladycats and Bobcats. She missed very few of the games, even if no family members were playing, and she had a certain seat that everyone knew not to take.
Survivors include her brothers, Gene Sloan and wife, Eva, of Odessa and Jerry Sloan and wife, Beverly, of Wichita Falls; sisters, Joan Beckham of Newcastle, LaVonne Yeager and husband, Ron, of Cisco, and Debbie Whiteley and husband, Jerry, of Newcastle; aunt, Lois Lynch of Graham; uncle, John Elms of Crestwell, Ore.; nieces, Joanna Manos, Jeannie Carpenter, Renee Beckham, Amanda Shead, Kriste Burkart and Lisa Granlund; nephews, Jerry Sloan, Ray Sloan, Ronnie Sloan, Dusty Yeager and Matt Lowery; and several great- and great-great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, LaVerne Lowery.
Visitation will be held Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Patsy Gay Montgomery

Patsy Gay Montgomery passed away Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2018 in Fort Worth. Patsy was born April 15, 1931 in Iowa Park, to Thelma and Otis Gay. Patsy attended Iowa Park High School and graduated from Texas Wesleyan College in Fort Worth.
Patsy met Joe Montgomery in Fort Worth and they married in 1952. Joe was offered employment with Graridge in 1957 and the young family of four moved to Graham. It is here, in this unique small town they raised their four children and spent 65 wonderful years together.
“Nannie” was an amazing mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her time with her family and Joe was always precious. She was an active member of Samaritans and United Methodist Women at First United Methodist Church and various other community organizations.
Patsy taught in Graham for many years and touched lives of students who continued to keep in touch with her over the years.
One of her many joys in life was getting to see her ex-students blossom and grow into adulthood. She always enjoyed reconnecting with them.
Those who loved her best and will miss her most include her husband, Joe Montgomery; son, Mike Montgomery and wife, Kathy; son, Greg Montgomery and wife, Rena; daughter, Susie Montgomery White and husband, Barry; son, Neal Montgomery; grandchildren, Sarah Beth Simmons and husband, Jordan, Caroline Fernandez and husband, Eric, Matthew Montgomery and wife, Casey, Scott Montgomery, Sydney Montgomery, R.B. White, Joseph White, Josh Montgomery and wife, Tiffany, Laura Dies and husband, Jordan, Taylor Thompson and Wade Thompson; great-grandchildren, Mason Montgomery, Evie Montgomery, Lottie Montgomery, Camila Fernandez, Jackson Montgomery and three great-grand children on the way.
Memorials can be donated to United Methodist Women or Samaritans of First United Methodist or Youth of Mount Zion Church of Graham.
Private family graveside will be held Saturday, Jan. 27, in Pioneer Cemetery and a memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church, under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.

Christine McKinney Henderson

Christina McKinney Henderson, 75, of Olney,  passed away Jan. 25, 2018 at Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31 at Greenwood Funeral Homes Chapel in Fort Worth.
Christina was born in Talladega, Ala. Oct. 28, 1942. She married Lewis Henderson Oct. 8, 2005 at St. Peter’s By the Lake Episcopal Church in Graford. 
Survivors include her husband, Lewis Henderson of Olney; son, Tommy Bruton; daughter, Tyree Moody and husband, Kenny; grandchildren, Tina Brown and husband, Brian, Lacey Bruton, Brayden Bruton, Clara Winburn, Hadley and Trigg Henderson; great-grandchildren, Rose and Levi Brown; along with a multitude of extended family and friends.
She will be deeply missed.

George Phillip Rife, 74, left this earth to be with the heavenly father on Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018 at his home in Long Branch.
George's story began May 29, 1943, when he was born the seventh of eight children to the late John C. and Ruby Joplin Rife in Graham. He grew up, attended school and was a resident of Graham for many years, making lifelong friends before moving to South Texas then settling and retiring in East Texas. He was a member of Old Shiloh Baptist Church of Mount Enterprise, and Pine Hill Masonic Lodge #95. George had a strong work ethic, owned several businesses and was a retired independent petroleum landman. He enjoyed horses, hunting, fishing, the outdoors, carpentry, restoring antiques, making money, spending money, his mothers' homemade lemon pie and an occasional drink of good smooth whiskey. He loved life, his wife, his kids, grandkids, great-grandkids, his family and his dog, Parker. He was a faithful friend who was well-known for his outgoing, quick wit and personality. He never let an opportunity pass him by, would make you laugh no matter your mood, and always had a great story to tell. He was a proud conservative Republican who believed in God, the savior Jesus Christ, the Constitution of the United States of America, and to always stand up for what you believe in. He taught his children that if you don't stand up for what you believe in, you will fall for anything. He also taught his children that it is okay to play hard as long as it doesn't get in the way of working hard, and to love, forgive and look out for each other.
George is survived by his wife, Terry Rife; daughter, Denise Rife Tinnon of Graford; son, Ben Rife and wife, Carrie, of Graford; daughter, Tammy Rife Hankins and husband, Chalk, of Graford; son, Dan Rife and wife, Wanda, of Lake Tawakoni; and daughter, Kendra Rainbolt and husband, Wesley, of Long Branch; 13 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Clifton Rife, Kim Rife, Bill Rife and Carl Rife; number of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Phillis Rife McNeely; sister, Dorris Rife MacBeth; and brother, Kenneth Rife.
A celebration of his life memorial will be held Saturday, Feb. 3, at 10 a.m. at Clayton Community Center in Clayton.

Tot Richards, 84, a long-time resident of Throckmorton, passed away Saturday, Jan. 27, 2018. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 31, at the Church of Christ, Throckmorton with Jason Blankenship officiating. Burial will follow services at Throckmorton Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes.
A visitation was planned from 6 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 30,, at the funeral home, 107 N. Austin in Throckmorton.
Tot was born Nov. 5, 1933 in Throckmorton County, to Mabel (Daws) and Thomas “Tom” Richards. He loved spending time with his family and teaching his grandkids everything he knew about oil production; he even worked with them on oil rigs. He was a very hard worker, and he was proud of the fact that he had the knowledge, equipment and capabilities to handle production from start to completion. In the early ’90s, he was named “Wildcatter of the Year.”
He lived a vivid life, racing stock cars and parachuting, and loved the excitement of fast cars, motorcycles and roller coasters. Tot served on the Throckmorton hospital board, First State Bank board, the Tax Appraisal board and many other boards for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Juany (Cribbs) Shankles Richards of Throckmorton; three daughters, Debbie Leinenbach and husband, Klaus, Darla Janice Richards, and Donna Richards Foster, all of Throckmorton; two step-daughters, Lajuana Crossland of Huntsville and Melissa Tatum of Abilene; five grandsons, Justin Ash and wife, Kendal, of Graham, Brady Ash and wife, Mindy, of Throckmorton, Rowdy Foster and wife, Stevi, of Levelland, Monty Foster and wife, Lacyce, of Abilene, and Fred Foster of San Marcos; three granddaughters, Whitney Waller and husband, Luke, of Throckmorton, Shelby Ash of Throckmorton, and Elizabeth Wilson and husband, Cy, of Abilene; five great-grandchildren, Landree, Brazos, Ruby, Etta and Palmer; his only first cousin, Nel Rey (Daws) Coker of Throckmorton; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mabel (Daws) Richards; father, Thomas “Tom” Richards, first wife, Ruby (Green) Richards; and two sisters, Tookie Gueldner, and Binker Cooper Quillan.
Memorials may be given in Tot’s name to the Throckmorton Volunteer Fire Department or the Throckmorton EMS/Hopsital.
