L.D. Thetford

L.D. Thetford, 94, passed away Saturday, April 29, 2017 in Wichita Falls. Funeral service is scheduled Friday, May 5, at 11 a.m. in Morrison Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Cottonwood Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.
L.D. was born Oct. 6, 1922 in Jack County, to the late William A. Thetford and Lona Lynn Thetford. L.D. was a veteran of the U.S. Army in the 552nd Anti-Aircraft and 78th Division where he served in World War II and fought in the Battle of Remagen Bridge, Battle of the Bulge, Battle of the Black Forest, Battle of the Argonne Forest, and Omaha Beach. He married Verna Coley, Dec. 31, 1954 in Bryson. L.D. was a self-employed building contractor in Graham for many years and a rancher and stock farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Verna Thetford of Graham; son, Larry Thetford and wife Linda of Graham; two grandchildren, Dr. Melissa Rouquette and husband, Dr. Toby, and Scott Thetford and wife, Kristi; two great-grandchildren, Cullen Rouquette and Karsyn Thetford; brother, Lynn Thetford and wife Charlene of Mineral Wells; sister-in-law, Mary Thetford of Houston.
L.D. was preceded in death by four sisters, Ilah, Cleo, Evelyn and Margaret, and three brothers, Clayton, Doyle and Donald.
The family will be at the funeral home Friday from 10 a.m. until service time.

Joseph ‘Gerald’ Washburn

Joseph "Gerald" Washburn, 79, passed away Monday, May 1, 2017 in Graham. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 5, 2017 at 3 p.m. at the Eliasville Tabernacle in Eliasville. Burial will follow in Eliasville Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.
Gerald was born Jan. 20, 1938 in Graham, to the late Frank Haze and Mary Jane (Delong) Washburn. Gerald was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in the Korean War on the USS Saratoga. He was a retired welder and pecan farmer and he was a member of the Church of Christ, AVR, NRA and a lifetime member of the Graham Rifle and Pistol Club.
Survivors include his daughter, Karen Jo Crow of Eliasville; sons, Frank Haze Washburn and wife, Denise of Graford, Wayne Thomas Washburn of Eliasville, and Mark Andrew Washburn and wife, Lanesa of Gruver; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by sister, Margrete Mooneyham and brothers, Jack Pete "JP" Washburn, Isaaic R. Washburn and Raymond Haze Washburn.
Memorials may be made to: Foster's Home for Children, 1779 N. Graham St. Stephenville, TX 76401.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Purnie Ovella Weatherbee

Purnie Ovella Weatherbee, 95, of Graham, left her earthly home on Sunday, April 30, 2017. Ovella was born March 17, 1922, in the Montague community near Bowie, to parents John Franklin Hill and Eva Jane Sanders. She and her 17 siblings grew up on their family farm in Hedley, where she attended the local school.
Ovella met Marvin Jean Weatherbee in Clarendon and following their courtship, they were married on Dec. 15, 1940, in Childress. They made their home in Olney where Ovella worked after Marvin completed his service in the U.S. Army. During that time, Marvin and Ovella welcomed their firstborn son, Homer Jean Weatherbee, to their family. Thereafter they welcomed two more sons, Jerry Don Weatherbee and Terry Lynn Weatherbee, before moving to Graham. Ovella was the consummate homemaker and was always involved in the extracurricular activities of her sons. 
Ovella loved life and always lived to the fullest. She was active in the Graham community and enjoyed the local senior citizen dances. Also, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church and, in recent years, she always looked forward to in-home visits from the Good Samaritans of the church.
The last surviving sibling, Ovella was preceded in death by nine brothers and eight sisters as well as her husband Marvin, in January 1975, and loving son, Homer, in December 2015.
Weatherbee's legacy is her family: two sons, Jerry Weatherbee and Terry Weatherbee and wife, Patsy, all of Graham; daughter-in-law, Johnna Weatherbee of Lubbock; five grandchildren, Deedra Keel and husband, Chris of Fort Worth, Jeana Weatherbee of Lubbock, John Weatherbee and wife, Kendal of Lubbock, Brandi Weatherbee of Graham, and Shelbi Reid and husband, David of Graham; three great-grandchildren, Alecia Musgrave of Graham, Kieran Keel of Fort Worth and Aaron Reid of Graham. A host of nephews, nieces and cousins also survive and cherish her memory.
A celebration of her life will be held Thursday, May 4, at 10 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Pioneer Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home. 
Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 6 to 7 p.m.

Harrison Irwin Brown passed away on May 1, 2017 in Austin, on the campus of The University of Texas. He was 19. 
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 6, at 1 p.m. at the Graham High School Basketball Gym, officiated by the Rev. Msgr. Raymund Mullan of Mansfield, formerly of Graham and assisted by the Rev. Eugene Nyong of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Graham.
Born on Sept. 17, 1997 in Wichita Falls, to Kurt and Lori Brown, he who for a little more than 19 years lived and labored among us is gone. The hand that had handed out so much to others is stilled; and the voice that meant hope and encouragement to so many is hushed.
Harrison grew up in Graham and graduated from Graham High School in 2016. He was a freshman at The University of Texas at Austin and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Graham and the University Catholic Center in Austin. Harrison loved God, his family, friends, music and The University of Texas.
God in His infinite wisdom has seen fit to remove from the walks of men this noble and gentle soul, but the works of Harrison Brown will live on for many generations yet to come. 
Harrison is survived by his parents, Kurt and Lori Brown of Graham, by his brother, John Brown and sister-in-law Allie, of San Antonio, and by his beloved nephew and godson, William Kurt Brown.
He is also survived by his grandparents, Diane Brown of San Antonio, Dick and Deanna Irwin of Greer, S.C., formerly of New Braunfels, and by many uncles, aunts and cousins and many friends across the globe.
Harrison was preceded in death by his grandfather, William D. Brown, by his great-grandparents, Lillie Brown and Peter and Anna D’arcangelis, and by his cousin, Michael Brown.

Tom Morgan, 86, passed away Monday, May 8, 2017 in Graham. Graveside services will be Wednesday, May 10, at 11 a.m. in Pioneer Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.
Tom was born Feb. 26, 1931 in Baird. He married Laverne Manley May 17, 1991, in Graham. Tom retired from the Texas Highway Department of Transportation.
Survivors include his wife, Laverne Morgan of Graham; daughters, Julie Isbell of Megargel and Gneta Livingston and husband, Ben, of Graham; sons, Billy Isbell and wife, Leanna, of Graham and Daniel Isbell of Graham; sisters, Shirley Deaberry and husband, Woody of Denison, Margaret Bell Kilpatrick and husband, Frank, of Big Spring and Matchey Ribble of Danville, Ind.; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by son, Leroy Morgan; sister, Betty Cox; and brother-in-law, Charlie Ribble.

Isao Poindexter, 55, passed away Saturday, May 6, 2017 in Graham. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 11, at 11 a.m. in Morrison Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Gooseneck Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.
Isao was born July 22, 1961 in Seville, Spain, to the late George Wesley and Akiyo Poindexter. He graduated from Vallivue High School in Idaho and moved to Graham in 1985 from Kansas. He was a painter for Texas Recreation Corp.
Survivors include his wife, Lesslie Tetmeyer of Graham; daughters, Shilo Hardy of Graham, Bethany Valdez of Graham and Tiffany Tetmeyer of San Antonio; sons, Ethan Poindexter of Hondo and Isaac Tetmeyer of Graham; sister, Masami Stanley of West Virginia; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Marley Grace Fulmer, and brothers, Kenny and Hideo Poindexter and Katsumo Kumura.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Steve Moore, 64, of Possum Kingdom Lake, passed away Tuesday, May 2, 2017. A memorial service was held at 10 a.m. Monday, May 8, at Eastside Church of Christ.
Steve was born April 27, 1953 in Houston, to the late Grover Sherman Moore and Sarah Marie (Coffey) Moore. He married Sharon May, 23, 1975 in Houston. He was the owner of Steve Moore Construction and a member of the Lions Club, a former scoutmaster, member of NRA, and a member of Eastside Church of Christ, where he served as a deacon.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon Moore of Possum Kingdom Lake; daughters, Leah Ellis and husband, Colin, of Los Fresnos and Jana Moore of Austin; two grandchildren, Evelyn and Finn Ellis; brothers, Grover Moore of Houston and Dan Moore of Hermleigh.
Steve was preceded in death by a sister, Carol Dockstader.

Richard Malcolm Rosser

Richard Malcolm Rosser, born Nov. 19, 1936, passed away May 7, 2017, following a single-car traffic accident in Graham.
The lifelong Graham resident is survived by his wife of 50 years, Kitty Gragson Rosser; brother, Virgil, and sister-in-law, Bebe Rosser, of San Antonio; sister, Mary Beth Roye of Waxahachie; daughter and son-in-law Emily and Sam Jackson of Richardson, daughter and son-in-law Jennifer and Scott Porter of Destin, Fla.; daughter and son-in-law Katherine and Casey Griffin of Lantana; granddaughters, Sloane, Libby and Emma; grandsons, Nathan, Jack, Will and Owen; and countless friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. V.O. Rosser Jr., and mother, Hattie Lucile Gowan.
After graduating from Graham High School and attending the University of Texas and Midwestern State, Richard served as an air traffic controller in the U.S. Air Force. His passion for flying led to a 26-year career as a pilot with Trans World Airlines. In his free time, if he wasn’t piloting friends and family around the skies over Young County, he enjoyed serving as an honorary air marshal and air traffic controller at air shows across the Southwest.
After his retirement, Richard stayed active with a plethora of hobbies. He loved camping with friends, golfing, working cattle at his ranch, and boating on Possum Kingdom Lake. A passionate animal lover, Richard became a devoted benefactor of the Humane Society of Young County. 
Funeral services are scheduled for 4 p.m. Thursday at Morrison Funeral Home in Graham, with graveside services to follow at Pioneer Cemetery in Graham. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice or the Humane Society of Young County.

Billy Thomas Woods

Billy Thomas Woods, 63, of Olney, died Oct. 9, 2016 at Grace Care Center of Olney.
A graveside memorial service will be held Tuesday, May 16 at 11 a.m. at Newcastle Cemetery.
Billy was born July 25, 1953 in Wichita Falls, the son of Archie D. Woods and Mildred Lee Woods. He was an oil field worker and served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a free spirit and fully enjoyed life.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Linda.
He is survived by his sons, Chris Masten, of Connecticut and Billy T. Woods of Montague; his sisters, Sandy Lathrop of Lamar, Mo., Jimmie Mangrum of Fairview, Tenn., Debra Stanton of Newcastle and Tanny Nipp of Graham; a brother, David Geisler of Waco; two grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ernest Clifford ‘E.C.’ Brock Jr.

Ernest Clifford “E.C.” Brock Jr., 73, of Tolar (Justin) passed away Monday, May 8, 2017.
E.C. left a legacy of love for all who knew him. He spent his early years building metal buildings, playing semipro volleyball and fast pitch softball. He coached Little League baseball and girls’ softball. He taught school for 25 years at Northwest ISD.
E.C. was a member of North Texas High School Rodeo Association for 40-plus years. He picked up broncs for over 35 years, hauled bulldogging horses and hazed for hundreds of up and coming rodeo stars. He served eight years as a member of the board of directors, two of which he served as president. His favorite saying was, “The most important things in life are family, good friends and great horses, and not necessarily in that order.”
E.C. is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Lela Brock, and one sister, Stella Sparks.
E.C. leaves behind his loving bride of 53 years, Linda Smith Brock; four children, Brenda Moe and husband Mike, Sandy Smith, Les Brock and wife Rilla, and Kelly Pickens and husband Scott; nine grandchildren, Melinda Nolen (Chase), Buck Mattern, Emily Matlock (Colton), Kristin Smith, Taylor Brock, Bailey Brock, Raelynn Brock, Les Brock Jr. (Bub), and Lela Pickens; 12 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Vertelee Coleman and husband John, Ellen Lovett, and Jean Morrow; and numerous nieces, nephews and adoptees.
Visitation will be held 6-9 p.m. Thursday, May 11, at Triple Cross Cowboy Church, Granbury.
Services are 1 p.m., Friday, May 12, at Triple Cross Cowboy Church, Granbury.
Interment will be held at Bluebonnet Cemetery in Colleyville.

Lychelle was born June 23, 1967 in Dallas. She married Robert Doolittle on Aug. 31, 2012 in Modesto, California. She was a homemaker and a member of First Apostolic Tabernacle in Sweetwater.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Doolittle of Sweetwater; parents, Robert and Lela Taylor of Jermyn; sons, Timothy Thornburg of Azle, Jeremy Thornburg of Sweetwater, and James Barnett of Eastland; sisters, Janice Taylor of Euless and Rachel Beth Hazard of Graham; brothers, Ted Taylor of Fort Worth, Sam Taylor of Kennedale, Tony Taylor of Fort Worth, Marcus Taylor-Sellers of Hamlin, and Rev. Matthew Taylor of Pittsburg; three grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews also survive.
Lychelle was preceded in death by Melvin Sellers, Michael Taylor, and her grandparents, Arthur E. Taylor, Sue Marie Bales, Henry S. Scarborough, and Virginia Pearl Kropp.

Christal was born July 3, 1926 in Wewoka, Okla., to the late Lloyd Edward O’Kelly and Della Mae (Ridens) O’Kelly. She was a bookkeeper for many years in Graham and Wichita Falls.
Survivors include her daughter, Kelly Arispe and husband Tony of Granbury; son, Matthew Schrouder and wife Laura of Van Nuys, Calif..; grandchildren, Amy King and husband Travis, D’onne Edwards and husband Dustin, and Toni Hailey and husband Shane; great-grandchildren, Hailie Nicholson, Taven King, Kinsey King, Dawson Edwards, Tyce Edwards, Bryan Hailey, Kaylee Hailey, Blake Hailey and Kolbi Edwards.

Peggy Jo Lunsford West, 83, passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2017 in Loving. Funeral services will be Monday, May 15, at 10 a.m. in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Burial will follow in Loving Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.
Peggy was born May 16, 1933 in Archer County to the late Andrew Newton and Bessie Beatrice (Robinson) Lunsford. She married Charles Edward West Dec. 31, 1970 in Wichita Falls. Peggy retired from Graham Magnetics and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She loved gardening, fishing, cookbooks, family and God.
Survivors include her husband, Charles Edward West of Loving; daughters, Deborah Ann Rials Marrs and late husband, Kenneth of Iowa Park and Catherine Sue Rials Chai and husband, Kim of Sapulpa, Okla.; sons, John Rials of Sapulpa, Okla., Kenneth Dale Rials and wife, Janet of Loving, JQ Rials and wife, Linda of St. Anthony, Idaho and Drexel West and wife, Wanda of Jacksboro; daughter-in-law, Donna Atchinson Rials of Wichita Falls; sisters, Betty Sue Lunsford Fowler of Big Spring and Patsy Regan Robertson of Alexandria, La.; 19 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Rials; granddaughter, Melissa Marrs; sister, Christine Hearne; brothers, Paul, Billy and Bennie Lunsford; stepmother, Flossie Wood Lunsford; and stepfather, Charlie Regan.

Margaret ‘Maggie’ Lawrencine Culp

Margaret "Maggie" Lawrencine Culp went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, May 14, 2017 at her home in Graham, surrounded by her loving family.
Maggie was born on July 23, 1930 in Gainesville, to the late Lawrence and Vera (Duncan) Davis. She was united in marriage on Jan. 28, 1949 in Wilmington, N.C., to William Emerson Culp, an active member in the U.S. Marine Corps. William and Maggie had a beautiful, loving relationship throughout his military career and subsequent teaching career at Cooke County Community College. Maggie attended Cooke County Community College and graduated with a bachelor's degree in nursing. She spent her nursing career of 35-plus years in Gainesville and Graham, retiring when she was 78 years old. Her amazing God-given gift to nurture and love those in need brought her countless friends and companions who will dearly miss her.
Maggie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Culp; her brother, Joe D. Davis; her son-in-law, Richard Nunley; her son, Yancy Walter Culp; and her daughter, Cindy Culp.
Maggie is survived by many beloved family members including her daughter, Donna Allen and husband Donald Allen of Graham; her son, Bill Culp and wife Charlotte of Rosston; her five grandchildren, Shawnee, Angel and Buck Nunley, Yancy Culp, and Cindy Friedrich; six great-grandchildren, Dally, Sterling and Brax Friedrich, Maggie Nunley, and Lily and Scout Culp; and extended friends and family members.
Maggie has lived on the family farm outside of Graham since her husband's death in 1985. Since her retirement from Graham Regional Medical Center in 2008, she has enjoyed reading, writing, gardening and spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren. We are overwhelmingly blessed to have known her as a mother, grandmother and most importantly as a wonderful friend. Our comfort comes from knowing she lives on with our Lord and Savior in Heaven and has been reunited there with many loved ones. She will be greatly missed by all; however, the sweet memories of Maggie Culp will live on forever. The family will plan a private gathering to celebrate her beautiful life.

Adeline Bertha Diersing, 95, of Graham, passed away Friday, May 12, 2017 in Graham. A Rosary was held at 7 p.m. Monday, May 15, at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Funeral Mass was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 16, at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial followed at 2 p.m. at Seymour Catholic Cemetery in Seymour. Arrangements under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.
Adeline was born April 2, 1922 in Rhineland, to the late William T. and Mary Annie (Urbanczyk) Jungman. She married Sylvester Diersing on Dec, 27, 1945 in Pep. He preceded her in death in 1995.
Adeline was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Graham Regional Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary, St. Mary's Women's Council and Delphian Study Club of Paducah.
Survivors include her daughters, Jan Alverson and husband Mike of Lubbock, Susan Bohanon of Allen, and Linda Bryant and husband Michael of Graham; son-in-law, Bud Henderson of Floydada; sisters, Gladys Wotipka of Lakeland, Fla., and Mary Loomis of Burleson; grandchildren, Heather Ingram, Holly Hicks, Diane Brisley, Dan Brisley, Nathan Gibbs, Thomas Gibbs, Matt Gibbs, Adyson Bohanon, Joe Bohanon, Landon Bryant, Andrew Bryant and Lauren Bryant; great-grandchildren, Hannah Holmes, Jewelia Ingram, Cole Ingram, Jackson Gibbs, Cason Gibbs and Elle Hicks.
Adeline was preceded in death by a son, Leonard Diersing; daughter, Donna Henderson; brothers, Bill and Gerald Jungman; and a sister, Lorena Diersing.

Our Mother passed away at Hunt Memorial Hospital in Greenville, on Friday, May 12, 2017. Mother was born on Nov. 17, 1938 in Peniel, to Roy Mason Carter and Susan Viola Morris Carter. She had two older sisters, Iva Lee Carter Roberts and Anita Carter Wallace, as well one younger brother, Roy “Bud” Mason Carter Jr.
Mother married Jett Urbin Wilemon on Aug. 11, 1956. Their marriage lasted 19 years, until Jett’s passing in 1975. On May 12, 1978, she married Jesse Leroy Moses. Their marriage lasted 38 years, until Jesse’s passing on Sept. 11, 2016.
 Mother was a woman of faith and attended church all of her life. She most recently attended First Baptist Church in Graham, and prior to that attended Aldersgate Church in Greenville, (now Christ Community Church) and Wesley United Methodist Church in Greenville. 
Mother battled and overcame Hodgkin-Lymphoma several decades ago. It was her prayer that she would survive long enough to see her children grown and was blessed by God to see not only her grandchildren born, but her great-grandchildren come into this world.
Our hearts ache at her passing, but we rejoice that she has been reunited with her God and the loved ones that preceded her into eternity. She has indeed entered into her reward, promised by the One who is faithful and true.
Mother is survived by one sister, Iva Lee Roberts, of Greenville. She is also survived by her children, Robin and Mike Gann of Greenville, Keith and Charylcie Wilemon of Denton, Don and Margarita Moses of Quinlan, Gary Moses of Quinlan and Darrell and Erin Moses of Lone Oak. Mother’s blended family includes 16 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at Memoryland Memorial Park in Greenville, at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 18. The family’s longtime friend, Rev. Jerry Speight of the Hope Center of Greenville, will be officiating.

Mildred D. "Billie" Robinson passed away May 11, 2017 at her home in Graham. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. McMillan-Satterwhite Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Billie was born May 8, 1923 in Butte, Mont., to Roy and Mae (Whindom) Redlich. She and her husband, Elmer B. Robinson, moved to Graham in 1982 from Columbia, Maryland. Mr. Robinson preceded her in death in 1995.
Survivors include two sons, Richard Robinson of Graham and Ronald Robinson of California; a nephew, Ralph Stroup of Graham; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Garon Layne Davis, 19, passed away Sunday, May 14, 2017 in Jal, New Mexico. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 23, at 10 a.m. in Oak Street Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Medlan Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.
Garon was born Jan. 14, 1998 in Wichita Falls, to Karri Mychele Willingham and Ricky Glenn Davis. He graduated from Chico High School and worked in the oilfield. Garon made an impact on everyone he came in contact with. He loved spending time with friends, family, and Ebony.
Survivors include his father, Ricky Davis and wife, Misti of Graham; mother, Karri Miller and husband, John of Olney; sisters, Mazzy Miller, Maci Southerland, Emma Hamm and Allaynna Davis, all of Graham; brothers, Hagen Davis of Sunset, Cody Davis of Graham, Brayden Southerland of Graham and Jazz Miller of Graham; grandparents, Mona Willingham of Wichita Falls, Robert and Maria Willingham of Olney, Roy and Cheryl Davis of Moran, Larry and Brenda Wenninger of Decatur and Martha Burns of Wichita Falls; and several other family members.
Visitation will be held Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Jerry (Geraldine) Cox, 84, died Saturday, May 20, 2017 at her home in Olney. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 21, at Restland Cemetery in Olney, with Steve Collard, officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.
Jerry was born Dec. 23, 1932 in Golden, to the late Lewis and Rosa (Thomas) Bishop. She married Charlie Clinton Newsom in 1950 and he preceded her in death in 1995. She later married Houston Cox.
Jerry was a retired mail carrier with the U.S. Postal Service. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Olney. Jerry was a self-taught musician as a bass player. She played in many bands from Olney to Graham area. She loved music.
Survivors include her daughter, Paula Benton of Olney; her son, Charlie Newsom of Grand Prairie; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
